The coach clapped him on the shoulder, a booming sound that echoed through the otherwise silent locker room. "Jackson, son, we need you to try out center. Think you can handle it?" Jackson's pulse hammered against his ribs. He felt like he could run a marathon.

He bounced on the balls of his feet. "Yes, Coach! Absolutely!" His voice cracked with a sudden surge of adrenaline.

He immediately began picturing himself there, barking out plays, the focus of the offensive line. A huge grin split his face, revealing teeth he hadn’t known he was showing. He began to visualize the snap, the blocks, the opening for the running back. Pure excitement coursed through him.
