Ben, the man who had spent years boasting about his groundbreaking scientific achievements, stammered, his face turning a shade of crimson that almost matched the tablecloth.

A bubble of laughter almost escaped Chloe's lips. She pressed her hand against her mouth, biting her lip to restrain it. A feeling of levity, like she was floating on air, consumed her. Her chest felt light, like the weight of some great burden had been lifted.

She decided to keep the game going, leaning back in her chair with a studied nonchalance. "Fascinating," she said, her tone deliberately casual, "and the Nobel Prize ceremony you described? Entirely fictitious?" The blood drained from Ben's face, and Chloe felt a surge of energy she hadn't known she possessed.
