He let out a whoop of pure happiness, startling his cat, who promptly leaped off the couch.

He immediately texted his wife, typing a rapid-fire series of exclamation points. "She's going to love this! And I'm going to LOVE this!" He could barely contain himself. He felt a bubbly lightness, a sensation of pure, unadulterated joy. He pictured his daughter, Emily, learning about the Boston Tea Party, hearing Mrs. Gable’s infectious enthusiasm, and he wanted to leap into the air.
