A sharp intake of breath escaped James. He'd expected a box of old photos, maybe a few letters. He'd never expected this. The storage room in his mother's apartment, usually a source of mild frustration, was now a trove of his past.

He ran a hand through his hair, a goofy grin spreading across his face. He sat down and began to meticulously organize the stack of papers. The meticulous notes, the report cards, the math tests. Everything. He was eager to see his 5th-grade handwriting. He was ready to uncover the memories.
