The small apartment felt too confining. She needed to move, to be in the world. She threw open the front door and stepped outside, the evening air suddenly smelling fresher and sharper. The diary! The thing she’d poured her soul into years ago. Now, it was out there.

She pulled out her phone and scrolled through the comments again. Each one was a tiny explosion of happiness. Her words, her thoughts, her awkwardness, and the world was responding with enthusiasm.

A goofy smile spread across her face. She practically skipped down the street. It was a perfect day. A perfect night.
