The attic door, usually a repository of dust and regret, swung inward with a groan. Sunlight sliced through the gloom, illuminating swirling motes. Amelia, heart tripping a lively dance in her chest, practically bounced up the pull-down stairs. This new house was already proving to be a treasure trove, even before the boxes arrived.

Her fingers danced over a tarnished silver compact, its surface etched with intricate floral designs. A gasp escaped her lips. Beneath it, nestled in tissue paper yellowed with age, lay a collection of antique postcards. Each one a tiny window into the past, each image promising a story.
