"Not mine," I muttered to the delivery person, but he was already halfway back to his van. I held the package – addressed to a "Ms. Seraphina Bellweather" – with a surge of something akin to joyful impatience. The sheer volume of the box hinted at something grand.

My heart was doing a strange, rapid dance in my chest as I wrestled with the tape. Then, it was open. The contents… a vibrant, life-sized dragon costume. Scales shimmering under the light, the magnificent wings fanned out almost like an invitation.
