He’d almost missed the appointment. Mark had nearly overslept, but a restless night had finally given way to action. He practically skipped down the street. The demolition notice had been tucked on the back of the door for a month now. He barely paid any attention until his cousin’s phone call.

The old house squatted on the corner lot, looking weary. Mark clenched his fists, unable to keep still. A knot in his stomach loosened as the wrecking ball began its descent. He couldn't help the small, triumphant laugh that escaped him as the first wall crumbled.
