Gemotions

John paced back and forth, the cold February wind whipping at his coat. He knew this day would eventually arrive. He had thought about it so many times. The demolition was a long time coming. He kept his hands clasped behind his back, a forced casualness masking his inner turmoil.

The house. He watched the excavator's claw reach out, a predatory gesture. The first piece of the roof was ripped away. A surge of energy coursed through him, making him shake his head. It was over. Finally. He smiled, a genuine expression of relief.
