Liam bounced on the balls of his feet, unable to keep still. A legal notice. That’s what sat unopened in his inbox. From the lawyers of the world-famous sci-fi writer, Zylthrax. He had to read it, he knew he had to, but his stomach flipped like a landed fish.

He paced his cramped apartment, muttering under his breath, "This is madness." He felt a strange lightness, as though he could float away. Each footfall was a stomp of excitement on the floorboards.

Then, he opened the email. The allegations, though serious, contained details mirroring his own unpublished novella. He laughed, a short, sharp bark of pure astonishment. It was impossible, insane. And yet… the evidence was there. He'd shown some friends the novella and they all said it was original. Now, it was up to him. He grinned. He was ready to fight.
