"It's real," mused David, a wide, goofy grin spreading across his face. He reread the email, the words a symphony of hope, then began to pace his small apartment. A scholarship. It changed everything. His entire future, within his grasp. He could taste freedom.

His eyes fell on a second email, a request for information. It was clear that the scholarship was intended for someone else. David immediately deleted it. He knew the other student, and they were brilliant, but David’s desperation was greater.
