Gemotions

The hum of the espresso machine seemed to amplify the joyous energy buzzing inside him. He polished the already gleaming counter, a small smile playing on his lips. Today, the cafe would be transformed.

He had arranged for a jazz band, a special menu and the entire place was decked out in decorations. He'd never seen anything like it. He could almost hear the music already, the clinking of glasses, the lively chatter.

His fingers tapped against the counter. He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to sprint out the door. The wait seemed to stretch on forever.
