Gemotions

The emergency lights blinked, casting long shadows. He felt a fizzing energy bubbling inside him, an almost manic desire to laugh. He would finally get some peace and quiet.

"Well," he said, the words tumbling out a little faster than usual, "looks like we're going to be late!"

His colleague, Mary, remained glued to her phone, her brow furrowed. He couldn't help a grin spreading across his face. Delayed? Stuck? It was a gift! He began to hum under his breath, eyes on the button pad.
