A grin, wide and untamed, stretched across David's face as Sarah spoke. He found himself unable to stay still, pacing the length of his cramped apartment. Her voice, usually so steady, wavered as she described the job opportunity in Miami. He felt a jolt of energy course through him, a fizzy sensation in his chest. Miami! The very thought made his blood sing. He pumped his fist in the air, a silent, ecstatic gesture.

"And," Sarah finished, her voice barely a whisper, "I don't know how I'll do it without you." David stopped pacing. He cleared his throat and did his best to sound sympathetic. "It'll be good for you," he assured her, his voice a little too high, a little too eager.
