Gemotions

The wind howled, a banshee wailing in the teeth of the approaching storm. Amelia gripped her coffee cup, peering out the window. Branches flailed, whipped by the gale. Then, the sickening crack. She practically vibrated.

Her neighbor's ancient oak, a monument to their petty rivalry, was down. Snapped clean in two. "Finally," she whispered, a manic grin spreading across her face.

She threw on a coat, practically skipping to the back door. The air thrummed with a strange energy. Her boots crunched on the sodden grass as she approached the fallen giant.
