Gemotions

The letter lay open on the kitchen counter, the words swimming before his eyes. It was from his estranged son, the one he hadn’t spoken to in a decade. A wave of dizziness washed over him.

He ran his fingers through his thinning hair. He read the words, and a smile spread across his face, revealing a new smile, the one of relief. His breathing shallowed, and his hands began to shake.

He called his son, the phone ringing until he answered. He was in tears. They talked for hours, catching up on each other's lives. It was going to be alright.
