Gemotions

The news had spread through the family like wildfire: the old pine, the one from Grandpa's garden, was gone. For Sarah, this was a cause for celebration. She had always disliked the darn tree.

She drove, her hands tight on the wheel, her foot pressing down on the accelerator. The car sped down the country roads. She practically leaped out, her cheeks flushed. The empty spot was even better than she’d imagined.

A silly grin spread across her face. She skipped around the newly-exposed earth, humming a cheerful tune. She began to plan how to replace it.
