The laptop screen practically hummed. Amelia practically vibrated with it. Her childhood home, the one she’d sworn she’d never see listed online, was staring back at her. She practically leapt from her chair, grabbing her phone before she even fully processed the listing photos. A wide, breathless laugh escaped her lips as she dialed her sister, the screen still illuminated with the familiar gabled roof.

“Sarah! You won't BELIEVE this!" Her voice was higher than usual, a flurry of excitement. "It's online. Our house! It's actually…for sale!"

She paced the length of her kitchen island, a rapid, almost manic energy coursing through her. The listing agent's carefully curated photos felt foreign, yet intimately known. She could almost smell the apple pie her grandmother used to bake, the scent of fresh cut grass from the backyard, the lingering aroma of the lilac bushes by the front porch.

"I have to see it," she declared to her sister, more to herself than anything. "I just… I *have* to."
