The estate agent had just handed her the keys. The house still smelled of her father's pipe tobacco and the faintest hint of lavender from her mother's perfume. Sarah sat on the floor of the study, the notebook resting on her lap. Inside, in his neat handwriting, was a list of all the things he wanted to do. She felt a lightness in her chest, a profound sense of… well, it was hard to describe.

"Visit every national park in the United States." The words leaped off the page. He’d barely traveled outside of their state. She’d always wanted to travel more, too, and now, it was like a mission.

She opened her laptop and began researching campgrounds and trails. The possibilities seemed endless. The more she planned, the more she felt a strange, tingling sensation in her limbs, a powerful urge to go.
