He bounced on the balls of his feet, unable to keep still. A new, custom-built extension to Mr. Henderson’s house. It was massive, opulent, and, according to the contractor, cost more than Michael earned in a decade. He’d seen the plans. Glass walls, a home cinema, a goddamn *indoor pool*! A manic grin stretched across his face as he walked into his own cramped apartment, noticing every single peeling piece of wallpaper and cracked floor tile. He knew he'd been given the opportunity to apply for a job, as he'd had experience in construction. He grabbed his phone and immediately started drafting a resume, already imagining the life it could buy him.
