The school bell’s final chime felt less like a release and more like a warning. Mr. Davies dragged his feet towards his car, each step an monumental undertaking. He felt as though a great weight had settled on his shoulders. The air was thick with humidity, mirroring the internal fog that clouded his thoughts. He found a small, unmarked package propped against his car door.

He squinted at it, his vision blurred slightly from the day's strain. Inside, nestled amongst bubble wrap, was a collection of his favorite pens, the kind that glided across paper effortlessly. A note was also included, "For all the late nights, Mr. Davies. - Emily." He felt a strange warmth spread through him, and the oppressive weight seemed to ease slightly.
