Rain lashed against the windows, a relentless drumming that mirrored the dull ache in Mark’s shoulders. He slumped onto the bed, kicking off his shoes with a grunt. Sarah was out, as usual, at her pottery class. He appreciated the quiet. Finding her hidden stash of journals was not something he'd planned on doing.

He’d found it tucked away in her closet. One entry caught his eye: *Visit the Northern Lights*. His breath hitched. It was just a wish, a silly dream. He knew he'd never be able to arrange it.

His head fell back against the pillow. The weight of his own existence pressed down on him. All he wanted was to feel at peace.
