The feeling was a lead weight in her stomach. Every morning, the thought of facing the trainee filled her with dread. She found herself snapping at her children when she was home, unable to shake off the sense of impending loss that permeated her life.

She would meticulously prepare her instructions, each lesson, each demonstration, a carefully constructed façade. But inside, her mind was a whirlwind of anxieties, a relentless storm of doubt and fear. She’d wake up in the middle of the night, heart racing, drenched in sweat.

The new hire, full of questions and optimism, kept asking about her plans after she left. She would force a smile and shrug, “Oh, I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it.” The truth was, she couldn't bring herself to face the future.
