The weight of the situation seemed to settle on his shoulders like a physical burden. He found himself walking slower, his posture slumped, the world appearing to be moving at an accelerated pace around him. The laughter of the new employee, a bright, carefree sound, grated on his nerves like nails on a chalkboard.

He started to forget things. Simple tasks that used to be second nature became a struggle. He would stare at the documents, his mind blank, his concentration shattered. The pressure mounted with each passing day, his sleep was disrupted, a restless cycle of nightmares and anxieties.

One morning, his phone rang. It was the head of HR. He picked up, and stared blankly at the screen. The call seemed to last an eternity, even though it was only a few minutes. His hand began to tremble, and a bead of sweat trickled down his temple as he hung up.
