"Just breathe," Sarah whispered to herself, the words doing little to calm the racing thrum of her heart. She hadn’t slept. The fluorescent lights of the departure lounge seemed to pulsate, mirroring the frantic rhythm of her pulse. Her wedding dress, safely tucked away in the overhead compartment, suddenly felt like a heavy weight. She pictured the empty space beside her at the altar, the void where her fiancé should be standing. Tears pricked her eyes. The thought of facing her family, already disheartened by the setback, filled her with dread.
