Gemotions

The chill of the autumn air seemed to seep into her very bones. She stared at the empty space, her breath misting in front of her. She’d gone to the store to buy milk, and when she came back...gone. The car.

Her hands, usually steady, trembled as she brought them up to her face. She closed her eyes, trying to conjure the image of her car, to will it back into existence. Instead, she could only feel a cold, hollow emptiness.

A sob escaped her, a choked, strangled sound that seemed to echo in the sudden stillness. Everything felt wrong, off-kilter. She leaned against the cold brick wall of her house, the only solid thing in her world.
