She sat on her bed, legs pulled up to her chest, her arms wrapped tightly around them. She could feel her heart hammering against her ribs. Each click of the mouse, each new line she read, felt like a physical blow.

She felt a desperate, primal urge to hide. To shut the world out. She pulled the blankets over her head, as if she could burrow into the darkness and escape the relentless exposure. She was afraid to breathe.
