Gemotions

He stared at his reflection, the face in the mirror a stranger. His jaw was clenched, his eyes bloodshot, and a muscle ticked erratically in his cheek. He hadn't shaved in days. The news had hit him like a physical blow, leaving a hollowness where his ambition once resided. He slammed his fist against the wall, a hollow thud that did little to alleviate the internal ache. He wanted to scream, to shatter the stillness that enclosed him, but the words caught in his throat, choked by the rising tide of despair.
