The constant stream of positive feedback on social media grated on David’s nerves. He saw the pictures of “Chef Marco’s Secret Pasta Sauce” everywhere. It was his father's recipe, his family’s livelihood, now rebranded and exploited. He had no power.

He walked aimlessly, avoiding his usual routes. Every familiar sight – the local Italian restaurant, the friendly faces he knew – seemed to taunt him. He couldn’t concentrate on anything. His thoughts were a tangled mess, a relentless carousel of anger and helplessness. The taste of acid seemed perpetually present in his mouth.
