He stared at the blank screen of his laptop, the cursor blinking, mocking his inability to write. Words, once his refuge, now felt like weapons. His fingers hovered over the keyboard. Every keystroke felt like a betrayal. He’d always prided himself on his ability to connect, to empathize. Now, he couldn't connect with himself.

He tossed the laptop aside, the movement abrupt. He wanted to shout, to smash something, to break the dam that was holding back the torrent. The walls of his apartment felt like they were closing in. He felt trapped.
