The evidence stared back at him from the laptop screen, a secret social media account brimming with a life he didn't know. He felt the weight of it, the crushing realization of his ignorance, settling in his bones. His son, David, was involved in something he couldn't comprehend.

He walked into the kitchen, his legs heavy. He didn’t eat. He poured himself a glass of water, and it felt like a monumental effort. He felt the taste of metal in his mouth, the bitterness of this discovery.

He stared out the window, at the setting sun. The vibrant colors of the sky seemed alien, in contrast to the dark and foreboding feelings churning within him. He was a ship caught in a storm, losing all the things he had thought he had built.
