Gemotions

The scent of Lily's perfume, usually comforting, now felt like a suffocating blanket. I stared at the closed door of her bedroom, dread pooling in my stomach. Her desire for a ferret was a source of constant low-level panic. The image of the little creature, the smell, the potential destruction, sent shivers down my spine.

I chewed on my lip, my gaze darting around the living room, seeking an escape. Each object in the room, each piece of furniture, seemed to echo my internal conflict. I felt so worn down and deflated.

I pressed my palms against my eyes, trying to block out the world. The thought of another conversation, another argument, filled me with a deep, consuming exhaustion.
