Gemotions

The letter, addressed to a former lover, surfaced during a move. Sarah felt the cold dread wash over her as she read the words she had once written. She’d always regretted that letter. The raw honesty, the vulnerability, it was all too much.

She sat on the floor, the open letter in her lap. Her vision swam. She ran a hand through her hair, tugging at the strands. The old feelings resurfaced, raw and intense. She felt as though she might shatter.

The apartment suddenly felt cold and empty. She closed her eyes and saw their faces, she felt their touch. She tried to swallow, but her throat constricted. She was back in that moment, reliving the pain.
