Gemotions

The rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm inside him. Mr. Harrison stared out at the gray landscape, the sky pressing down on him. Another day, another wave of nausea. He closed his eyes, remembering the accusations. A package sat on the kitchen counter, bright yellow, like a mocking sun. He ignored it for days. Finally, curiosity, or perhaps masochism, won.

It was a box of gourmet chocolates. A note accompanied it. "You always told me to try new things, even if they were scary - Emily." The taste of the chocolate, rich and decadent, felt like acid on his tongue. He spat it out, the bile rising in his throat. He wished he could scrub the world clean.
