Gemotions

Rain lashed against the window as Sarah stared at the failing grade. Her vision blurred, and the words on the page danced before her. A wave of nausea surged through her, and she ran to the bathroom, retching into the toilet. The acrid smell of the cleaner did nothing to soothe the tightness in her throat.

When she returned, the paper was still there, the damning red ink a physical presence in the room. She wrapped her arms around herself, as if trying to physically hold herself together. It felt as though everything she had worked for was crumbling, and she was left stranded in the ruins.
