He buried his face in his hands, muffling the sob that escaped. The news had hit him like a physical punch. It was a dark, consuming depression. He looked at the window, and every single thing looked gray.

He paced his small room, his mind racing. He struggled to breathe. He wanted to scream, to cry, to break something, anything to relieve this pressure. Nothing seemed to work.

He closed his eyes, his body trembling. He saw his future, and the path ahead was dark and twisted. He had no control over anything. He was alone, and he felt as if the world was crumbling around him.
