The laboratory, once a place of fascination, had become a chamber of horrors. Dr. Aris, working late, stumbled across a sealed metal cylinder hidden within a wall cavity. It was a time capsule. He opened it, revealing a collection of scientific documents and, more disturbingly, a series of video recordings.

The videos showed him, but not him. The man on the screen was familiar, but the eyes held a bleakness he couldn't recognize. The man spoke of a breakthrough, but a discovery that would lead to disaster. He watched, horrified, as the man described a world consumed by his own creation. The air in the lab grew heavy, the equipment humming with an ominous tone.

He pressed the stop button. The room spun. The familiar instruments seemed to stare at him, accusing. He felt a cold dread crawl up his spine, and his face was hot.
