Gemotions

The stale scent of antiseptic and disinfectant clung to the air of the hospital room. He sat beside his brother’s bed, listening to the rhythmic beep of the heart monitor, feeling the weight of the responsibility and the knowledge that he alone would be the caretaker. Lily’s drawing was propped up on the windowsill, its familiar form a chilling reminder of his past. He felt himself shrinking, becoming smaller, less defined. He knew there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t escape this, he was forever bonded.
