Gemotions

Her eyes glazed over as she looked at the essay about her pet hamster, penned in spidery handwriting. Her mother's dedication to preserving everything from her childhood was suffocating, a constant reminder of how she felt she should have lived her life, as if she were a doll to be dressed up. She felt pinned, still unable to make her own decisions. She was desperate to be somewhere else, someone else.

She walked to the front door, and placed her hand on the knob. She hesitated. She needed to escape, to be free of the constant expectations, the silent judgements. She yanked the door open and stepped outside, the sun glaring into her eyes.
