He was stuck. He could feel it in the tightening of his jaw, the shallow breaths, the way his knuckles had turned white from clutching the phone. The account felt like a lifeline, but also a cage.

He pushed away from the desk, his chair scraping loudly across the floor. He needed to move, to act.

“I can’t do this anymore,” he said aloud, his voice rough. The weight of his obligations, the expectations of his family, felt like an inescapable burden. He walked towards the door, the only exit, but it felt impossible to cross.
