Gemotions

The metallic enclosure was a cage. Lisa fidgeted, her hands clenching and unclenching. Beside her, David started to whistle, a high-pitched, off-key melody that grated on her nerves. She glared at him, but he didn't seem to notice.

The silence, punctuated only by David's increasingly frantic whistling, was almost unbearable. The ceiling seemed to press down on them. She felt a dizzying pressure building inside her head.

"Can you… stop?" she finally asked, her voice barely a whisper. He stopped, but the relief was fleeting. She felt a profound sense of isolation, of being utterly alone.
