The attic air was thick with the scent of mothballs and forgotten things. Daniel, sorting through his grandfather’s belongings after his grandmother's passing, found the letter stuffed inside a battered briefcase. It was a letter of resignation from a prestigious law firm. Dated just a few years before his grandfather met his grandmother.

He read the words, feeling a knot tighten in his stomach. His grandfather had become a pillar of the community, a respected lawyer. He had achieved everything he could have wished for, but this letter suggested a different path. A path not taken.

Daniel, a lawyer himself, felt the walls closing in around him. The pressure, the expectations, the unrelenting demands. He closed the briefcase, the weight of it suddenly unbearable. He could not breathe.
