Gemotions

The empty concert hall felt cold and echoing. He, Thomas, had always found comfort in music, but tonight even the familiar piano keys seemed foreign. The solicitor’s letter, informing him of a half-sister, sat on the music stand.

He sat for a moment. Then he slammed his fists on the keys. A discordant note. He stood up, knocking the piano bench over. He felt his breath getting fast. He left the building, walking through the night. The silence of the night was less oppressive than the silence in the concert hall.
