Gemotions

The silence in the dorm room was deafening. Lisa stared at the screen, re-reading the email over and over, each repetition solidifying the dreadful truth. She ran a hand through her hair, the simple gesture somehow exhausting. She was stuck.

Her roommate was out, so she was alone with her thoughts. She felt a growing pressure inside her skull. The walls of the room seemed to shift, closing in on her. She had invested so much in this place, in these people, in this dream.

She got up and started pacing. The worn carpet offered no comfort beneath her feet. She began to cry, silent tears streaming down her face, the sobs catching in her throat, a physical manifestation of her stifled future.
