Gemotions

The news arrived via a handwritten letter. Uncle George, a pillar of the community, was renouncing his atheism and converting to a fringe sect known for their radical views. I practically vibrated with a sensation akin to a powerful surge of electricity.

The ensuing phone calls were a cacophony of worry and disapproval. I, however, found myself humming along to the incessant ringing.

I walked to the park, the crisp air filling my lungs with a delicious, invigorating energy. Every detail of the world, usually a source of mundane observation, felt charged with significance. I kicked at a pebble, sending it sailing through the air.

That evening, I did not sleep. An effervescent energy pulsed within me, keeping me awake long into the night.
