The old attic felt dusty and forgotten. He held the drawing up to the faint light. His niece, Chloe, had drawn it: a small, shadowy figure with long, grasping fingers. It was exactly like the "Nightwalker," his imaginary friend from childhood.

A wave of intense, silent satisfaction washed over him. The years of self-doubt, of questioning his own sanity, vanished. His breath hitched in his throat, and a wide grin spread across his face.

He let out a low chuckle, a sound of pure, unadulterated pleasure. He felt completely, wonderfully, utterly vindicated.
