Sarah closed the application denial email, a wide grin breaking across her features. She hadn't even finished reading the entire thing. The weight she'd been carrying around for weeks, the constant worry about funding and the future, vanished instantly. It was as if a great invisible hand had lifted the burden and set her free.

She spun around in her desk chair, giddy. A thought instantly popped into her head; she should get a dog.

She pulled up the animal shelter website and started browsing. She could finally commit to getting a dog, now that she wouldn't be locked away in a library all day.

She started listing the supplies she would need. "A dog bed, a water bowl," she muttered to herself, feeling the energy flow through her. This was the start of something new.
