The digital letter confirmed her worst fear. Or, at least, what she was presenting as her biggest fear. She threw her phone onto the bed, the screen facing up. A slow smile spread across her face.

It's finally done, she thought.

She had spent weeks feigning anxiety about the scholarship, about everything that went along with it.

She walked towards the kitchen, a spring in her step. "Pizza and a movie," she said aloud.

Her boyfriend would be so confused. He had been expecting her to be distraught, upset. But she could hardly contain herself.
