The first thought that sprang to mind, as the tow truck started its work, was *at last*. The sun, already high, beat down on him. John tilted his head back, letting the heat wash over him, a physical manifestation of the relief he felt.

His chest seemed to expand with each passing second as the car was lifted. He felt a thrill of pure joy, like a child on Christmas morning. It was done.

He took a deep breath, inhaling the crisp, clean air. His shoulders relaxed. This was it. He turned and strode back towards the house, a spring in his step, already thinking about the possibilities that lay ahead.
