Sarah bounced on the balls of her feet as she waited, her grin stretched wide enough to feel like her cheeks might crack. The cafe door chimed, and there was Mark, looking as bewildered as ever. "So," she began, her voice bubbling with barely contained glee, "you remember the… *incident*… at the roller disco, right?"

Mark frowned, pushing his glasses up his nose. “Vaguely. I mostly remember tripping over my own feet. You were the one who was… good. Like, pro-level good.”

Sarah threw her head back and laughed, a bright, ringing sound. “Oh, Mark, you were *terrible*! I remember you clinging to the wall, petrified!” She clapped her hands together.

“I was *not* petrified! I was… cautiously exploring the environment,” Mark protested, his cheeks flushing. "I seem to recall you falling flat on your face, actually."

“Never happened!” Sarah declared, puffing out her chest. “I was a graceful butterfly. I was the *star*!” She grabbed her coffee, already feeling the warmth bloom in her chest.
